.
Keep Background Static When Page Scrolls
Called "watermarking", this easy technique keeps the page background image fixed in place when the page scrolls.  This is a subtle effect, but can add a worthwhile sophisticated touch to page design.
.
Calling Multiple JavaScript Functions
One of the most frequently asked questions is how to call more than one JavaScript function at a time from a JavaScript link or an event.  It's actually very simple to do -- and every webmaster should know how.
.
Make Any Window  A Pop Under
Pop-under windows do have legitimate uses other than advertising Viagra -- like reminder and exit information windows.  This small script snippet quickly  turns any window into a pop-under.
.
Setting Window SizeWith JavaScript
When you open a new window from a link, the browser sets the size, normally.  But with this little scriptlet, when the window opens it resizes it to the dimensions you set.
.
Setting Window Position With JavaScript
As with size (see above), new windows opened from a link are positioned wherever the browser decides; however, this small scriptlet positions the new window where you decide.
.
Force Any Window To Come To The Front
A common problem is opening a new window, only to have it jump behind other windows already open... or, when re-loading an already open window, having it fail to come to the front.  This very simple technique brings the window to the front each time it loads or reloads.
.
Prevent A Window From Losing Focus
If you have a window that really must stay in front (on top) of all others, try this technique.
.
How To Close Windows With JavaScript
Another very common question -- how do you use a  JavaScript link to close a window?  This brief technical note shows how to do it, with both regular windows and framesets.
.
Maximizing A Window With JavaScript

When you open a new window from a link, the browser will usually set the size automatically -- but smaller than the full screen area.  This quick trick shows how to maximize a new window when it opens, so it fills the full screen.
.
No-Right-Click Opens A Popup Window
Most no-right-click scripts (used usually to help protect your page code) either show an ugly alert box or just do nothing.  This slick script opens a popup window on right-click.

You can make mailto links that include To, Cc, Bcc, Subject, and Body material.  Multiple email addresses are allowed in the address fields, and a convenient popup window lets you instantly test the code in your default email client. Create Pop Up Windows Without Writing Code
Pop up windows are possbily the single most common use of JavaScript -- but the window.open() method used to make them is a bit of a bear to deal with -- especially so for newcomers to the art.  Try this tool to create your pop-ups -- useful even for old hands, in that it saves a lot of time with design tinkering.

Generate ScrollBar Colors Automatically
You can certainly hand-code scrollbar styling colors, but it's time-consuming and often confusing due to all the different attributes that can be set.  Check out this tool that does it for you -- great for both novices and experienced designers.  Hey, it even does blinking scrollbars!

Make A Window Come To The Front
A useful technique to make a window seem like it stays "on top".  It uses a timer to quickly keep recalling the window to focus.  In that it does not behave "modally", the links on the underlying page can still be used.
.
Stop Pages From Being Captured In Framesets
You've just created all this great content -- and some bozo swipes it by capturing your pages in a frame on his site, right?  It's easy to stop!

A neat design trick -- how to place a textarea (or page) scrollbar on the left side rather than on the right. Originally intended for languages that read right-to-left, it can also be used to good effect in creating design symmetry.
.
Hide Window Scrollbars
Oftentimes in special-use popup windows (forms, etc.) or pages that just have short content, the browser scrollbar is not needed -- and in fact, looks rather ugly.  This tip shows how to hide the browser scrollbar, or have it only appear on pages where the content is long enough to require it.
.

Use this script to bookmark your page to IE's "favorites". Unlike other bookmark scripts, it automatically grabs the title and url of the page.
.
Using Multiple Styles With An Element
This technique can greatly simplify the use of styles in your page.  Though not well known, you can easily attach more than one style to a given element.  By then combining simple styles instead of writing multiple complex styles, the CSS is simpler and shorter.
.
JavaScript History To Return To Previous Page
Useful especially for catch-all pages, where a number of possible previous pages may have landed -- so hard-linking back to the previous page is not possible... the JavaScript history makes it easy to link back to the previous page, regardless of url.
